Dance is filled with uncertainty: uncertainty about the competition, performance, and ultimately placements. One thing that was always a constant, however, was the reliability of Standing Ovation events. From my first year as a dancer to my graduation year, I cannot recall a year when I did not attend a Standing Ovation competition. SO has an amazing reputation within the Edmonton dance community. The calibre of talent among the dancers, coaches, and judges is remarkable. I have had the pleasure of watching many talented dancers take the stage at SO, and even more joy from watching them pursue their dreams. Through the World Performers and Be Discovered scholarships, they offer plenty of opportunities for dancers to continue their dance careers. The wonderful backstage crew, MCs, judges, and volunteers demonstrate that Standing Ovation truly has every dancer’s best interest at heart.
During my senior year, I signed my first professional contract with the Edmonton Elks Cheer Team, performing at CFL football games and connecting with fans through various community events. After graduating in June of 2025, with the help of my teachers at Bianca’s Dance Company, I was able to continue my dance career at the collegiate level by committing to the St. Cloud State University Dance Team. I am currently in my freshman year, pursuing a degree in Sports Management, and preparing with my team for UDA Nationals! Being able to compete at this level is truly a dream come true, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as a dancer.
Thank you to Standing Ovation for your constant motivation and inspiration to dancers all over Western Canada!
